About Me

NATHAN SHELTON (AEA, SAG/AFTRA) is a multifaceted artist living in Chicago, IL.  With an acting career spanning over 30 years, Nathan continues to work regularly in theatre, film & television – including the feature films, Above Ground (featured on Showtime)Aging Predators, Everything, Broken Faith, and MEAD (starring Robert Picardo, Patrick Warburton & Patton Oswalt).  On the small screen, he has been seen in the internationally acclaimed web series, Shadow Bound, the ATAS Award-winning web series, EPILOGUE, numerous commercials/industrials, as well as hosting the 4th season of the EMMY Award-winning television program, Show-Me ChefsNathan is represented as an On-Camera, Theatre, & Voice Over Artist by DDO Artists Agency – Chicago.

Nathan’s Special Effects Makeup work can be seen in films such as the Academy Award-nominated, Winters Bone, Above Ground, MEADPMS Cop & The Sky Has FallenHe is the Founder/Executive Producer of ARCANE, a cabal of like-minded creatives who share a passion for all things dark, twisted, & mysterious.  Nathan rarely works in SFX these days, but does continue to create monsters for smaller stage & personal projects as well as create masks & original horror props for sale on the ARCANE ETSY SHOP.   Together with the other artists of ARCANE, Nathan has produced numerous stage, screen, & audio productions (including the IAWTV-nominated, SHADOW BOUND (Soon to be a feature film) and the hit horror anthology audio-drama series, The Frightmare Theatre Podcast). 

Aside from Nathan’s other artistic work, he is also an award-winning playwright & screenwriter.  His short play, Tinker Toys, won the Critic’s Choice Award at the 2005 Samuel French Short Play Festival in NYC.  Nathan’s internationally acclaimed web series, Shadow Bound, garnered numerous nominations & awards, including “Best Cinematography” & “Best Original Score” in the LA WEBFEST,  the “People’s Choice Award” in Melbourne, Australia,  seven separate nominations (including Best Series) in Spain’s prestigious Bilbao Web Fest, as well as an Official Selection in the Roma Web Fest in Italy.  His short film, YELLOW (directed by Ryan Piotrowski) won the 2020 Ozarks CW Saucer Prize Award in the SATO Film Festival.  Currently, Nathan is developing new audio dramas for Arcane’s, Frightmare Theatre, as well as short & feature length films.

Nathan continues to provide script doctoring services & coaching as well as private coaching/workshops in acting, directing, writing, & special effects makeup design throughout the country (including The Performing Arts Institute at Missouri State University, The Film X Change in Victoria, TX, The Judith Enyeart Reynolds School of the Performing Arts, & Northwestern University’s NHSI Film Institute in Chicago, IL).
